Call of Duty: Warzone finally listened to players in last week’s patch and nerfed the FFAR and the AUG. But for many in the battle royale’s community, it’s still not enough.
The two weapons have been the biggest issues with Warzone for many players, who felt they were causing imbalance. The FFAR 1 had its ADS speed decreased in an attempt to decrease the rapid pace in which players could kill with the weapon. It will now take more time for players to line up their sights.
Raven Software explained that the FFAR was “edging out SMGs at ranges we’re not satisfied with.” This change was meant to bring the weapon “a bit more in line” with what players expect from an AR’s damage range and handling.

ADS speed has been decreased.
The FFAR is a jack of all trades. It has the damage profile and range of an AR as well as the fire rate of an SMG. The FFAR’s wholesale efficacy has it edging out SMGs at ranges we’re not satisfied with. Ideally, the FFAR fulfills the role of a mid-range dominator while falling prey to weapons that excel in short-range engagements. We are bringing the FFAR a bit more in line with what you might expect from an AR—damage and range at the cost of handling.
The AUG was another weapon that players consistently complained about. Raven Software increased the gun’s recoil so it would be harder to line up consecutive bursts. The developers explained that this would “maintain the weapon’s identity of being a powerhouse” while making it more difficult to handle.

Cold War Tactical Rifle Charlie
Recoil strength has been increased.
Burst weapons ride a fine line between inefficient and oppressive. The intent of this change is to maintain the weapon’s identity of being a powerhouse while making it a bit more difficult to wield. Right now we feel it is too easy to stay on target given how lethal it is. We will continue to monitor the performance of the Tactical Rifle Charlie and make additional changes if necessary.
These two changes sounded promising at the time but Warzone players have already dismissed the update. The two rifles are still overpowering the game’s meta even with the nerfs. This proves just how powerful the weapons are within the game.
Even popular streamers like Guy “Dr. Disrespect” Beam have called on developers to do something about the ongoing meta, frustrated with how the two weapons have taken over the game. But after ongoing complaints, the Two-Time did reinstall Warzone. Maybe the AUG and FFAR aren’t enough to deter people from enjoying the battle royale altogether.
